Dear ICRS Parents and Friends,
SKAGIT COUNTY COVID-19 DATA UPDATE
Alleluia, we are excited to announce that ICRS will transition to the AB Hybrid model, beginning with the A cohort next Monday and Tuesday September 21 and 22. I have reached out to the Skagit County Dept. of Health today. They confirm that Skagit County is still in the moderate risk category which meets the criteria for us to pivot to the AB Hybrid model. ICRS will continue to screen at drop off and require that all who enter the building wear a face covering and practice physical distancing. Here are additional precautions described by the DOH for K-12 schools.
Teachers will provide students two days of in person instruction which will include a 30-minute session in PE and one in technology. Miss Sue is developing plans for children to be able to check out library books online. She will deliver library books to students when they are on campus.
On Fridays, teachers will provide at least one Zoom meeting for the whole class to meet. Fridays will also be reserved for teacher planning time and meeting time.
INTERNET USE AGREEMENT
As students return to school for learning, they will access instructional material via the school’s internet. Please review the School’s Internet Use Agreement. Parents and students must “sign” it electronically to indicate agreement with the policy.

Given that the school will pivot to the A/B Hybrid model before the end of September, there are a few changes to the school calendar as we would like the academic week to be consistent for school families.
Wednesday, Sept 16, Back to school night, Conducted on Sep 1 or Sep 2. Parents can contact their child’s teacher for more information about curriculum.
- Monday, Sep 28, 5-8PM, “Protecting God’s Children” mandatory class for all NEW volunteers. This class will be conducted on Zoom. Headphones are highly recommended. Sign up on virtusonline.org.
- Wednesday, Sep 30, Beginning of Wreath sale
- Thursday, Oct 15,
Noon dismissal, teacher in-service. CANCELED. This will be a full day for Cohort B
- Friday, Oct 16, Teacher work day. No instruction.
- Friday, Nov 6, noon dismissal, End of 1st Trimester. Teacher work day.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Will the ferry line still be used for drop-off and pick-up during the AB model? Yes, the new ferry line drop-off and pick-up process will still be used during the AB model for K-8 students.
Hybrid: Drop-off time • Gates open at 8:15AM • Health screenings begin at 8:30AM Students must stay in the car until the family health screening is complete. In case your child has a temperature above 100 degrees, they could stay in the car to return home.
Hybrid: Pick-up • Gates open at 2:35PM • Student pick-up between 2:50-3:10PM Students will be in their classroom and be notified to exit the building when their car is nearing one of the four pick-up spots Parents must stay in their car (no walk-up pick-ups)
What supplies do students need to bring to their class session during Hybrid model? Teachers will be informing families through email, if they have not already done so, of what each child will need to bring to the school as we transition to the AB model.
- PE shoes with non-marking soles are required for PE for all classes K-8 due to the wood floor in St. Joseph Center. PE shoes should be contained in a sack, labeled with the child’s name. PE shoes will remain in the classroom. Fourth – 8th grade students will not change clothes for PE this year.
- 4th-8th should bring their fully charged devices to school.
Will students be required to bring their laptops to school each day? 5 – 8 grade students will be issued a school laptop for the 2020-2021 school year. These students must bring the device to campus to complete daily academic work during on-site learning.
Will childcare be available on the students off-days during the AB model. If so, who is eligible? Yes, first responders and teacher’s/staff’s children have priority, followed by single parent families without local extended families to support them, as well as students needing intervention. The childcare limit is 20.
How many masks should the students bring to school each day? Students should bring 2-3 face coverings per day as it is recommended that face coverings be replaced every four hours.
Will the remote model change any obligations for ICRS families including volunteer hours, fundraising or tuition cost? A current proposal is under development and a recommendation will be made to the Finance and School Commission at their September meeting. We will report out to families thereafter.
Will the school bus be in service starting on Monday the 21st? There will be no bus service for the year.
Will children be able to order hot lunch and milk? Yes, the MVSD will continue to provide hot lunch and milk to children who order it before 9am.
SPIRIT WEAR. All children can wear ICRS spirit wear on Fridays. Monday-Thursday students should wear their uniform when attending school.
Again, we are excited to have the students return to a more normal daily routine starting next week. We have appreciated all the school families support and patience during this time. We are confident that we can keep students and staff safe as we transition to this model and we are confident that these smaller class sizes will allow teachers to meet our academic standards.
