Mrs. Moa-Walsh’s Newsletter

April 29, 2022

Dear parents,

It is hard to believe we are down to our last month and a half of school. Today, students enjoyed spending the morning with their school families and attended a whole school mass.

In math, we have wrapped up fractions. Students will be working on area, perimeter, measurement, graphs, and geometry. Daily practice of math multiplication facts at home is necessary.

Students are working hard preparing for the Mother’s Tea. Moms, please let me know if you are unable to attend. You are welcome to bring teacups for you and your child, please do not send teacups to school. I am asking each student to bring in their mom’s favorite cut up fruit. I will be using the fruit to make a topping to go on top of the dessert. It is hard for me to cut up fruits so pre-cut is better 😊.

On Tuesday, students received a special gift, their own student dictionary! This was a gift for the Mt. Vernon Rotary. Students will get to keep this dictionary at home. This next week, there will be homework assignments involving this dictionary.

Spelling patterns for next week are the prefixes “re” and “un.” The words are: unfold, rejoin, untie, reheat, unfair, unclear, repaid, rewrite, unhurt, recheck, unlucky, unwrap, reuse, and unsure. Spelling test is on Thursday because of May crowning and Rosary on Friday morning.

Please have your child read nightly and record on reading log. A new log went home today. Only five students handed in their reading log for the month of April.
