SECOND GRADE NEWSLETTER 6.2.25

HALL OF HISTORY UPDATE: Artifact items are due by Friday June 6.  Ask your child if they have volunteered to bring something for someone else in the class to borrow.  Mark your calendars for the morning of June 10 – we will present our Hall of History in the Library from 9:00am-10:15am.  You are welcome to come anytime during that block of time to visit our Hall of History.

FIELD TRIP: We will be visiting the Mount Vernon Library on Monday June 9. This is a field trip in conjunction with K and 1^st to learn about the new library and the summer reading program.

HUMPHREY – Humphrey spent the weekend with Maddie.

Things we are learning:

Phonics: _le syllables: kle, ple, sle, zle, tle

Reading: point of view, 1^st person, 3^rd person, nonfiction: Sleepy Cats & Wild Cats

Vocabulary: evade, intriguing, confess, mope, scurry, vaguely

Writing: Fractured Fairy Tale, Oral reading of biography reports

Math: decompose arrays and relate to a number bond, even numbers, odd numbers, word problems with arrays

Religion: Supper of the Lamb

Scholastic News: Ice Cream on the Go

Special projects: gifts for 8^th grade students, Father’s Day gifts

BOLETÍN DE SEGUNDO GRADO – 2 DE JUNIO DE 2025

ACTUALIZACIÓN DEL SALÓN DE LA HISTORIA:
Los objetos históricos deben entregarse antes del viernes 6 de junio. Pregúntele a su hijo si se ha ofrecido a traer algo que otra persona de la clase pueda usar. Marque sus calendarios para la mañana del 10 de junio – presentaremos nuestro Salón de la Historia en la biblioteca de 9:00 a.m. a 10:15 a.m. Usted es bienvenido a visitarnos en cualquier momento durante ese período de tiempo.

EXCURSIÓN:
Visitaremos la Biblioteca de Mount Vernon el lunes 9 de junio. Esta excursión se realiza junto con kínder y primer grado para aprender sobre la nueva biblioteca y el programa de lectura de verano.

Fonética: sílabas con _le: kle, ple, sle, zle, tle
Lectura: punto de vista, primera persona, tercera persona, no ficción: Gatos Dormilones y Gatos Salvajes
Vocabulario: evadir, intrigante, confesar, estar deprimido, escabullirse, vagamente
Escritura: cuentos de hadas distorsionados, lectura oral de biografías
Matemáticas: descomponer arreglos y relacionarlos con enlaces numéricos, números pares e impares, problemas de palabras con arreglos
Religión: La Cena del Cordero
Noticias Scholastic: Helado para llevar
