  • Valentine Letters – Please complete it, telling your child four reasons why you love them and return it to class by February 13th.  These will be read to each child on Valentine’s Day and then placed in their memory books.
  • Valentine’s Day–Class List Sent Home-You may send your child’s Valentine’s into class any time.

  • Valentine’s Day Party – Tuesday, February 14th at 2:30 - All parents are invited to come to class at 2:30.  The children will have a snack and then you may sit and read the Valentine’s with your child!
  • February RAH Chart sent home.  Please return RAH Chart for January.
  • Book Order Sent Home – Book Orders Due THIS Wednesday, Feb. 8th
  • A BIG THANK YOU TO MR. & MRS. DILWORTH WHO HAVE GRACIOUSLY VOLUNTEERED TO DO THE KINDERGARTEN CLASS AUCTION PROJECT!!  It is a beautiful shadow box coffee table (that can convert into a picture to hang on the wall!!).

 

  • ICRS Auction – Saturday, March 17th – This is truly an enjoyable evening and a great way to get to know other parents!  Wouldn’t it be great to have a Kindergarten parent table???  Next week when you are reading Valentine’s with your child in the classroom make plans to sit with other kindergarten parents.  Are you still in need of volunteer hours? This is a GREAT way to earn a LOT of hours.  The auction committee still needs volunteers. The deadline to turn in all volunteer hours will be here before we know it and this is a great way to complete your volunteer commitment.   If you have any questions about the auction please let me know.  If I can’t answer your question I will put you in touch with someone who can!

  • We still need 5 more shoe boxes!
  • By the end of February the children will be expected to be able to quickly name all of the letters of the alphabet (uppercase and lowercase) as well as letter sounds.  The last sight word will be introduced on February 28th.  We will then be reviewing sight words and by March 15th the children will be expected to know all 33 of the sight words and be able to read them quickly.  I have attached a complete list of the sight words.  In March blending will be introduced.  If the children have mastered the letter names, sounds that have been introduced and the sight words, it will make blending and reading much easier for them.
  • Homework – This month I will expect that the children be reviewing sight words at home as homework.  Each time they read through the list of words with you (please don’t read through the list in the same order every time as they will memorize it ) please note “Sight Words” on their reading at home chart and this will count as one book.
